Training

With us, training is a passion. We specialize in young dogs and our initial training program is designed for all breeds of hunting dogs. Conditioning is a big part of our program and we start the day with a two mile run along the river. Then we move into training.
You can’t train a great hunting dog without birds and we have our own training birds which includes Chukars and Pheasants.
We also offer a conditioning program for the mature hunting dog. This program runs for the month of August and continues until the start of the upland game season in mid-October. We reinforce all of the obedience commands required for a hunting dog, work on conditioning and give the dog lots of practice with live birds.
We are fortunate to live in an area where there are wide open spaces, lots of water and lots of birds. Dogs that I have in training during hunting season get to hunt birds every day.

Fees

Our fee for training is $800 per month plus food, plus birds. We do not charge for pigeons, however pheasants are extra. We charge 25.00 for cock pheasants and 15.00 for hens. Our fees also include dog food, basic maintenance, 4x daily exercise and individual attention.
The length of time we need to satisfy your objectives is depend on the dog’s progress and the number of objectives you specify. We also invite you to attend training sessions with your dog to see the progress and also learn some training yourself.

Training Grounds

I am fortunate to have all the necessary types of terrain, water and habitat within a short driving distance of my kennel and home. This keeps my trainees on their toes and provides for exactly the right conditions for the lessons being taught.

We have access to wild bird encounters like Hungarian Partridge and Sharptail Grouse as well as Ringneck Pheasants. I like my training grounds to emulate actual hunting conditions and expose young dogs to all kinds of situations.

Come and visit us at our 17 acre training facility and we will take you for a tour of our alternative training grounds as well.
